Do your research on what is acceptable and what isn’t in the country you’re going to. Find out about the weather there to know what to pack. Just be sure to have the basics and pack only what you need.

Take your time: Take your time; with everything. Whether you’re shopping at your destination or you’re at the airport or sightseeing, take your time. Kids love to explore and see new things. Don’t just hurry them on from place to place.

Plan activities for them: What better way to keep them in line than to keep them busy? Have fun activities lined up for your children every step of the way. It could be a small game of remembering bus stops as you commute, colouring books, puzzles; anything to while away time. The activities should also involve other members of the family and not just the children. Have family games handy. You can even ask them to keep a travel journal and draw or write about things they experience during the journey or hand them their own camera to take pictures. But be sure not to have too many activities planned for them.

Avoid the sugar: I’m talking about sweets, ice cream, chocolates, etc. Some children have the tendency to get really hyper when they take a lot of sugar, making them even harder to control. Instead of sweets, pack fruits, vegetables, nuts, and savory snacks for them.

Brand them: Kids tend to wander. Whether it is at the airport or when you’re sightseeing, there is a very high tendency you kid would find something that catches his or her fancy and follow that thing when you’re busy with something else. Be sure to write your kid’s name, your name, and your phone number and attach it to a part that can be very visible on your child. You can have it on their armor attached to their clothes.

Loosen up: Don’t be so uptight about things. You would end up not enjoying your vacation. Breathe and live a little. It is a vacation after all. It is easy to forget you’re supposed t be pampering yourself to in all of this. Be flexible and loosen up. Even with the rules you set. Setting rules are a great way to keep your kids in check but don’t be too strict on them. You’d be surprised at how well they’d behave.

Things to do on Arrival

Here are the important things to do on your arrival in Canada as a new students

1) Obtain your study permit

Even though this is inevitable, many new students do not know. The majority of international students if not all of them have a temporary resident visa from their country. Upon arrival, a study permit is issued. To prevent unnecessary delay, pack your documents in your hand luggage.

2) Obtain your Social Insurance

You need to get your Social Insurance Number(S.I.N) if your study permit allows you to work in Canada . Upon arrival at the airport, you may even be able to get one (ask there). If not, you can find details on how to apply for Service Canada here.

3) Arrange accommodation

You may need to do this prior to arrival and have a place to quarantine (even if it’s a temporary apartment) given the present COVID situation. How safe is Egypt? Absolutely! Safety wasn’t the main concern in Egypt as far back 2008. Unfortunately, the Middle East is currently experiencing political or social unrest. Yes, there are places that are not safe, but there are other places that are completely safe. The same as in any other country or city. Nevertheless, the only rules across Egypt is for tourists who visit Egypt is to “enjoy and feel at home.”. The other thing to note is that Egyptian culture is conservative, so clothing in public should be modest.

When to Go to Egypt?

Egypt has an arid climate, so it is always hot and dry. The coolest months, which are also the most popular seasons for tourist are December to March. Although any month in the spring or fall would be fine. When you visit Egypt in September, the heat might be extreme in Luxor, but I didn’t consider it to be a major issue in Cairo.

How to Get Around Egypt

As a tourist there are numerous ways in which you can get around in Egypt to visit its sight attractions.

Bus

The primary mode of transportation for locals in Egypt is bus. The majority of cities and towns are reachable by bus at a fair cost. It is the best route to some remote areas outside the Nile Valley and is safe and reliable. Long-distance bus services are controlled by five major companies, each of which serves a different part of the country. The Canal area, Mansoura, and Damietta are served by the Eastern Delta; Kafr El-Sheikh, Manufiyyah. And Tanta are served by the Middle Delta; Damanhur, Alexandria, the Northwest coast, and Siwa are served by the Western Delta.

All of the Nile Valley and the Red Sea Coast are served by the Southern Areas; and the Sinai Buses Company serves all of Sinai area. Buses, however, move very slow and are often late. You can spend at least one hour in traffic when traveling to or from Cairo. You can consider Go Bus if you’re on a strict backpacking budget. Their buses are highly comfortable, reasonably cheap, and simple to book on their website or mobile app.

Egypt has excellent and cheap domestic flights. You will have to choose between NileAir and EgyptAir. You will pay between $50 and $80 for a one-way flight from Cairo to Luxor or Aswan, which takes about an hour.

Train

The Nile Valley, Delta, and Canal Zone are linked by an efficient north-south railway. Travel by train is pleasant between Alexandria in the north and Aswan in the south. Trains traveling on the main line travel from Cairo to Aswan to Luxor.  Alexandria via Tanta, Suez, and Ismailia, Damietta via Mansoura, and Sallum via Mersa Matruh. There are fast air-conditioned trains from Cairo to Alexandria or Aswan, including sleepers and regular non-air condition local services.

Foreigners are only allowed to travel on four “tourist trains” (two of which are sleepers) from Cairo to Luxor or Aswan.  So be careful not to board the wrong train. Ramsis Square’s main downtown station is where the majority of trains depart from.

Boat (Nile Cruise)

All of the popular tourist destinations offer Nile cruises, and the majority of tourists decide to do it. Many tourists mistakenly believe that the Nile Cruise is the only way to see certain destinations. However these places can also be accessed by car or bus. Know that lounging by the pool and dining on the boat won’t be a local experience. While there is nothing wrong with that at all, not everyone may find it interesting. You can decided to take a cheaper options by staying  at local guesthouses.

Uber & Taxis

In Egypt, you can use cab apps like Uber and Careem. Uber is highly cheap in Cairo and you can use it to travel anywhere. An ordinary taxi ride from Cairo Airport to downtown Cairo. For instance, it shouldn’t cost more than 50–60 LE, while a trip to the Pyramids from Cairo Airport should cost 100–110 LE.

 Working and Studying in the USA

You’ll first sign up for a post-secondary course of study. F-1 visas (for academic students) or M-1 visas are typically used by foreign students to enter the US (for vocational students). You must apply to a college or university that has been authorized international student admission by the US government.

Students on F-1 visas may not work off-campus during their first year of studying in the USA. But students on F-1 visas are permitted to work:

• Up to 20 hours a week during ordinary full-time semesters,
• Up to 40 hours per week during regular holidays like the winter and summer break,

Here are the three categories of off-campus work available to F-1 students after the first academic year is over:

• Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
• Optional Practical Training (OPT) can be completed either during or after a student has finished their program
• Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Optional Practical Training Extension (OPT).

However, any student that holds an M-1 visa can only start practical training after their graduation. Off-campus training must be related to the field of study for both F-1 and M-1 students. The Designated School Official of their institution and USCIS must authorize all training.

We advise looking for jobs long before graduating because international students only have a short window of time to find post-graduation work.

How Does OPT Operate Before/ or After Studying in the USA?

Before or after studying in the USA you have the right to participate in OPT (Optional Practical Training) for up to 12 months before and/or after completing your academic degree if you are able to find full-time employment in your field. In other words, you don’t need a new visa to work in the United States for a short while.

However, the maximum of 20 hours of work per week still applies when school is in session. Any time spent on OPT while still in school counts towards the maximum 12-month allowance. When is on break for the summer, you are permitted to work full-time 40 hours a week.

As a student, you have the option of finishing your OPT full-time or part-time during and/or after your academic program. Whatever option you select, keep in mind that you will lose your right to OPT after graduation if you use up all of your OPT time while studying.

Applying for Work Visas Before/ or After Studying in the USA

While you are on an F-1 student visa, your employer has the opportunity to file for an H1-B visa on your behalf. They might carry out this action while you are on OPT or afterward.

Deciding to Stay After Studying in the USA

Your employer may submit an application for a Green Card on your behalf while you are employed in the US on an H1-B visa (Permanent Resident Card). You can remain permanently and work if you have a green card after studying in the USA. Individual Green Cards, on the other hand, must be renewed after 10 years.

Patience is key when applying for a Green Card. The processing time ranges from four to seven months. You can stay in the US while your status is pending.
